What is the Aeromix 2+2 SR and who is it built for?
The Aeromix 2+2 SR is Fitness Audio's premium voice-over-music stereo mixer and the industry-standard mixer for fitness facilities worldwide. It's designed for studios that run team-taught classes, larger group exercise rooms, indoor cycling and spin studios, dance and HIIT spaces, university recreation centres, and any multi-instructor environment where two microphones and multiple music sources need to be mixed simultaneously.
How many microphones and music inputs does the 2+2 SR have?
It accepts 2 microphone inputs (TRS Combi sockets) and 3 music sources — two pairs of RCA inputs on the rear plus one ¼" TRS input on the front panel. That's enough headroom to run two wireless headset mics plus a primary music source, a backup player, and a quick-connect input for an instructor's phone.
Can two instructors teach on wireless mics at the same time?
Yes — that's exactly what the 2+2 SR is built for. You get two independent mic channels each with their own level and tone controls, so two instructors can co-lead a class (think Les Mills BodyPump, indoor cycling duos, or training sessions) without one voice drowning out the other. Each channel can be EQ'd separately to flatter different vocal tones.
Is it streaming-ready for virtual classes and recording?
Yes. The latest 2+2 SR includes a dedicated 3.5mm mini-jack output with its own independent volume control. Feed the full voice-over-music mix into an external USB soundcard, a laptop, a phone, or a tablet (with the right adaptor) to live-stream classes, record on-demand content, or push audio into Zoom, Instagram Live, or your studio's app.
What are Combi mic inputs and why do they matter?
A Combi socket accepts both a ¼" (6.35mm) TRS jack in the centre and a balanced XLR connection from the outer pins. Balanced XLR connections from your wireless receiver's Mic Out reveal more body and warmth in the voice and are significantly less susceptible to noise, RF interference, and ground hum — a big deal in studios full of equipment, lights, and dimmers.
Will it work with my existing wireless microphone receivers?
Absolutely. The Combi inputs accept balanced XLR from virtually any quality wireless receiver — Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Line 6, and others — alongside Fitness Audio's own U-Series, AeroLink, and Aeromic-compatible systems. The mixer is engineered and QC'd to sound exceptional with Aeromic, Cyclemic, and EMic headset systems specifically.
How do I prevent instructors from cranking the volume too loud?
The 2+2 SR has a recessed Master Volume Control on the back panel. Your installer sets the maximum loudness ceiling once during setup, and from then on the system can't exceed that limit no matter how aggressively the front-panel knobs are turned. This is a critical feature for multi-instructor facilities, gym chains, and any venue with shared sound systems.
What is the SPL Music Cut-out Circuit and how does it work?
The 2+2 SR has a built-in SPL (Sound Pressure Level) Music Cut-out Circuit that pairs with the Fitness Audio Trigger loudness monitor. When studio volume crosses your set threshold, the system delivers an immediate −15 dB cut to the music — what we call the Audio Slap. Music stays ducked until levels return to a safe range, protecting members' hearing, keeping you within workplace noise compliance, and reducing complaints from neighbouring rooms or upstairs tenants.
Does it have an evacuation mute feature?
Yes. The EVAC Link (Music Mute Relay) is often required by building codes in public institutions, councils, schools, and university rec centres. When your fire alarm system triggers, music is automatically muted across the sound system while the instructor's microphone stays live at full volume — so they can calmly direct an orderly evacuation rather than shouting over a thumping beat.
Can I control mic tone separately from music tone?
Yes. Each mic channel has its own bass and treble (EQ) controls, completely independent from the music EQ. If one instructor's mic is feeding back or sounding muddy, you can shape just that channel without affecting how the music sounds — a flexibility most generic studio mixers can't offer.
Is it rack-mountable?
Yes — the 2+2 SR is a 1 Rack Unit (1RU) design and fits standard 19" racks. It rack-mounts cleanly alongside Fitness Audio Wireless Mic Receivers and AeroLink Bluetooth Music Receivers to keep your full signal chain tidy in one cabinet.
Does it support Bluetooth music streaming?
There's no built-in Bluetooth, but the 2+2 SR pairs perfectly with the AeroLink Bluetooth Music Receiver. Plug AeroLink into one of the rear RCA music inputs and you can stream wirelessly from a phone, tablet, or laptop while keeping all the audio quality of a wired connection through the mixer.
How easy is it for instructors to plug in their phone or music device?
Very easy. The front-panel ¼" TRS input is auto-sensing — the moment a device is plugged in, the mixer automatically switches Music 1 to the front input. Instructors walk up, plug in their phone with the included iJax cable, and they're playing. No reaching behind the rack, no fumbling with cables mid-warm-up.
Will it sound clean during quiet moments like cool-downs and stretching?
Yes. The 2+2 SR runs on a 24V outboard DC power supply — the quietest in any fitness mixer on the market. No buzz, no low-volume hiss, no power hum to ruin the calm moments of yoga savasana, Pilates breathwork, or end-of-class cool-down.
Is it built to handle a humid, sweaty fitness environment?
Yes. Heavy-duty knobs and pots are used throughout for rust prevention, and the chassis is built to handle the heat, humidity, and constant use of a working studio. The 2+2 SR has been road-tested and QC'd by the Aeromic Lab Team specifically for the fitness industry — not a recording-studio mixer repurposed for gyms.
Do I need an audio engineer to operate it?
No. Once your installer sets the master volume, EQ, and trim levels, operating the 2+2 SR is straightforward — instructors only need to manage mic and music levels during class. The layout is intuitive, the knobs are clearly labeled, and it's easy to reset on the fly if something gets bumped, which saves expensive call-out fees for service.
What outputs does the 2+2 SR have?
It has two pairs of TRS stereo outputs — one pair at 1 Volt and one pair at 1.5 Volt — with a mono option available. This gives you flexibility to feed a main amplifier plus a secondary zone (a hallway, lobby, or overflow space), or send a feed to a recording device. Plus the dedicated 3.5mm streaming output mentioned above.
What's included with the 2+2 SR?
The mixer itself, an outboard 24V DC power pack, and our exclusive iJax smartphone connection cable. Data sheet and full user manual are available for download on the product page. The rack mount kit and Fitness Audio Trigger (for SPL monitoring) are sold separately.
What's the difference between the Aeromix 2+2 SR and the Aeromix 1+1 SR?
The 1+1 SR handles 1 mic and 2 music sources — best for solo-instructor studios, boutique fitness, yoga, Pilates, and home setups. The 2+2 SR handles 2 mics and 3 music sources — best for team-teaching, larger group exercise rooms, multi-zone facilities, and venues that need redundant music sources. If you ever run dual-instructor classes or need a backup music input, the 2+2 SR is the right call.
How does the 2+2 SR compare to the Aeromix 3+5 LS?
The 2+2 SR is the industry standard for typical group fitness and cycle studios. The 3+5 LS is the flagship for large multi-purpose facilities that need 3 mic channels and up to 5 music sources — think convention spaces, university rec centres, and large multi-room clubs. For most commercial gyms and boutique studios, the 2+2 SR hits the sweet spot of features, sound quality, and value.
