Aeromix 3+5LS — Product FAQ
8-channel fitness studio mixer with USB streaming. 24 questions across 7 categories.
Setup & Installation
Yes. The Aeromix 3+5LS is a standard 1U rack-mount unit, fitting any 19-inch equipment rack. It occupies exactly one rack unit of vertical space. Standard rack ear mounting holes are built into both ends of the front panel faceplate — no special adapters required.
It can also be placed on a flat shelf or AV furniture surface without rack mounting if preferred.
The 3+5LS runs on 24V DC via an external power supply unit (PSU) that is included in the box. The 24V supply was specifically chosen to deliver the quietest noise floor of any fitness mixer on the market — the higher DC voltage significantly reduces audio hum and interference common in gym environments.
The DC barrel input is located on the far left of the rear panel, labeled 24V DC IN.
Box includes: (1) iJax cable — Fitness Audio's proprietary 6.35mm to 3.5mm stereo cable for connecting phones and tablets to the front-panel iJax input. (2) 6.35mm Jack-to-XLR output cables for connecting the mixer outputs to a power amplifier. (1) 24V DC power supply unit. (1) printed user manual.
Cables for connecting wireless mic receivers, additional RCA music sources, and amplifiers are not included and must be sourced separately.
Yes. The 3+5LS includes an EVAC Link input, required by code in many commercial building installations. When triggered by a fire alarm system, the EVAC link automatically mutes all music while keeping microphone channels live — ensuring instructor voice commands remain audible during evacuation. Connection is via the green screw-terminal block labeled CONTROL on the rear panel.
Inputs & Outputs
There are 3 microphone inputs total. Two are combo XLR/6.35mm jack inputs on the rear panel (MIC 1 INPUT and MIC 2 INPUT) — accepting both balanced XLR from a wireless mic receiver and a 6.35mm jack (balanced or unbalanced). Balanced XLR is recommended for wireless receivers as it is less susceptible to noise and interference.
The third is a 3.5mm jack on the front panel labeled Alt. Mic 2 — ideal for visiting instructors who can plug in directly from the front without touching the rear panel. Each rear XLR input has an individual TRIM control. The mixer also supplies +15V phantom power.
There are 5 stereo music inputs: one front-panel iJax 6.35mm jack input (connect phones via the included iJax 3.5mm adapter cable), three standard RCA stereo pairs on the rear for media players and virtual class systems, and one dedicated BGM (Background Music) RCA stereo input on the rear panel.
L/R Stereo Outputs — two 6.35mm TRS jacks at 1V nominal, for connecting to a power amplifier or installed sound system.
Subwoofer / Mono Output — 6.35mm TRS with a built-in selectable crossover (50Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or Bypass) and a Mono mode switch.
MOM (Music Only Monitor) Output — sends music signal only, with microphone excluded. Useful for secondary zones or clean music-only recording.
USB Type-B Digital Output — sends the full mixed signal to a computer for live streaming. See the Streaming & USB section for full details.
Yes. The Subwoofer/Mono output has a built-in crossover with four selectable settings: 50Hz 100Hz 120Hz and SUB (Bypass). Select the crossover point that matches your subwoofer's specifications and room acoustics. Connect using a standard 6.35mm TS or TRS cable from the SUB output to your sub amplifier's input.
MOM stands for Music Only Monitor. This output carries the music signal only — all microphone channels are excluded. Common uses: feeding background music to a reception area, hallway, or warm-up zone where you want music but not instructor voice; sending a clean music-only feed to a recording device; or driving a secondary amplifier zone with music only.
Streaming & USB
The 3+5LS has a built-in A/D (analog-to-digital) converter board connected to a USB Type-B DIGITAL OUT port on the rear panel. It converts your complete mixed signal — voice over music — to digital audio and sends it directly to a Mac or PC via a standard USB-B cable.
Your computer recognises the mixer as a standard USB audio device. No drivers are required on Mac, and most Windows systems are plug-and-play. In Zoom, Teams, or any streaming platform, select the Aeromix 3+5LS as your audio input source.
Because the USB output presents as a standard USB audio device, it is compatible with any software that allows audio input selection — including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, OBS Studio, StreamYard, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Webex, and GoToMeeting, among others. In each platform, navigate to audio/microphone settings and select the Aeromix 3+5LS or "USB Audio Device" as your input source.
The USB output sends the complete post-mix signal — instructor microphone blended with music, exactly as it sounds in the room. Virtual participants hear the same balanced voice-over-music mix as in-room attendees, with no additional configuration required.
Yes — this is one of the primary use cases the 3+5LS was designed for. The L/R outputs feed your room's amplifier and speakers simultaneously while the USB output feeds your computer. Both outputs operate independently at the same time, with no extra switching or hardware required.
Volume Control
The Master Volume Control is a recessed potentiometer on the rear panel that sets the absolute maximum output level the system can ever reach. Once set during installation, the front-panel volume knob only operates within that ceiling — no instructor, member, or substitute can exceed it. The recessed design requires a small flathead screwdriver to adjust, discouraging unauthorised changes.
The dedicated BGM input has its own independent rear-panel MIN and MAX screw trimmers. The front-panel Music Vol. knob has no effect on this input. This lets facility managers set a fixed, locked level for between-class background music or BGM playlists — members and instructors at the front panel cannot adjust it at all.
Yes. The 3+5LS has three independent mic inputs, each with its own volume knob. Two instructors can be live simultaneously — connect each wireless mic receiver to the two rear combo XLR inputs (MIC 1 and MIC 2) and control each level independently with Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Pairing with two Fitness Audio DX6 Digital Wireless receivers allows both instructors to operate on separate digital channels simultaneously without interference.
Sound Limiting
The Audio Slap is Fitness Audio's integrated sound limiting circuit. When audio exceeds a pre-set threshold, it automatically cuts music by –15 dB — a sharp, noticeable reduction that signals to the instructor the level is too high, without killing the system entirely.
The front-panel LIMIT ON red LED illuminates when limiting is active. The LIMITING yellow LED flashes at the moment of limiting. Threshold is adjusted via the rear LIMIT THRESHOLD screw trimmer. The circuit can be toggled off via the rear LIMITER OFF / SLAP switch.
With the system running at the loudest acceptable volume for your space, adjust the rear LIMIT THRESHOLD screw trimmer until the front-panel LIMIT ON LED just begins to flicker. That point becomes the ceiling. Any signal exceeding it triggers the –15dB cut. Facilities with specific sound compliance targets should calibrate alongside a dB measurement tool or SoundEar monitoring device for precision.
The Audio Slap limiter acts on the music signal only. When triggered, music is reduced by –15dB while all microphone channels remain at full level. The instructor can continue to speak clearly to the class during a limiting event — the sudden music drop also serves as an immediate audible prompt to bring volume down.
Compatibility
The 3+5LS is compatible with all Fitness Audio wireless systems that output via XLR or 6.35mm jack — including the DX6 Digital Wireless series (recommended; balanced XLR output into rear combo inputs), the MTU8 Analog series, and the SM716 receiver. Connect the receiver's XLR mic output directly to MIC 1 INPUT or MIC 2 INPUT using a standard XLR cable. Third-party wireless systems with standard XLR or balanced 6.35mm outputs are also fully compatible.
The 3+5LS does not have built-in Bluetooth. However, a separate Bluetooth music receiver (such as the Fitness Audio Bluetooth receiver accessory) can be connected to any rear RCA stereo input pair. The Bluetooth receiver pairs with your phone or tablet wirelessly and outputs to the mixer via RCA cables — giving you wireless music playback without Bluetooth being built into the mixer.
The 3+5LS is the flagship of Fitness Audio's mixer range — designed for large fitness clubs, boutique studio chains, multi-instructor training facilities, cycling and HIIT rooms, and hybrid virtual class studios that need to manage multiple instructors, multiple music sources, and sound compliance simultaneously. For a single small studio with one instructor and one music source, a simpler Aeromix model would be more appropriate.

What is the Aeromix 3+5 LS and what makes it Fitness Audio's flagship mixer?
The Aeromix 3+5 LS is the top-of-the-range voice-over-music stereo mixer from Fitness Audio. It's purpose-built for large multi-purpose fitness venues, full-service health clubs, university and corporate recreation centres, dance academies, group exercise mega-rooms, and any facility that needs to run multiple instructors and multiple music sources simultaneously. Compared to the 2+2 SR, it adds a third mic channel, two more music inputs, direct USB-to-computer streaming, a built-in adjustable sound limiter, and a dedicated Music-Only Monitor output.
How many microphones can I run through the 3+5 LS?
Three mic channels — two XLR Combi inputs on the rear panel (for your installed wireless receivers) plus a front-panel TRS jack input for a third microphone. The front input is perfect for visiting guest instructors who bring their own wireless mic system: they walk up, plug into the front, turn up Mic Vol. 2, and they're teaching within seconds. No reconfiguring the back of the rack.
How many music sources can I connect?
Five stereo music inputs in total. You get four pairs of RCA inputs on the rear (including the exclusive BGM input for background music) plus a ¼" TRS jack on the front panel that uses the included iJax cable for quick phone connection. This is enough for a primary playlist source, a backup player, a streaming device, a CD or USB player, and an instructor's personal phone — without ever swapping cables.
What is the BGM input and why is it useful?
BGM stands for Background Music. It's a dedicated rear-panel input designed for a permanent background music source — typically a streaming box, satellite radio, or the building's overall music system — that plays at a set level when no class is running. Staff can fade it down when a class starts and bring it back up between sessions without affecting any of the other music channels' settings.
Is it Zoom-ready and streaming-ready for hybrid classes?
Yes — and this is one of the biggest upgrades over the 2+2 SR. The 3+5 LS has a built-in Analog-to-Digital Converter board and a USB Type B output, which means you plug a single USB cable directly into your computer and your full voice-over-music mix is recognized as a clean digital audio input. No external USB soundcards, no adaptors, no signal degradation. It's purpose-built for simultaneous Zoom, Teams, and on-demand recording while teaching a live class.
Can two instructors teach together while streaming a Zoom class?
Absolutely. Combine the 3+5 LS with the Fitness Audio DX6 Digital Wireless package (dual-channel) and two instructors can both be mic'd up and broadcast through the same USB stream to a computer. Add a third instructor on the front-panel mic input and all three voices reach the room speakers and the Zoom audience simultaneously.
What is the built-in Audio Slap sound limiter and how does it work?
The 3+5 LS has an inbuilt Audio Slap limiting circuit that delivers a –15 dB cut to the music when sound levels exceed your set ceiling. There's a screw-pot Ceiling control on the unit to set the trigger point, and a red LED on the front panel that acts as a visual overload indicator so staff and instructors can see when they're pushing the system too hard. Unlike the 1+1 SR and 2+2 SR, you don't need a separate Trigger device — the limiting is built right in.
What's a MOM (Music Only Monitor) output and what would I use it for?
MOM stands for Music-Only Monitor — a dedicated output that sends only the music feed (no microphone) to a secondary destination. Common uses include: feeding a lobby or reception speaker system with just the class music (without the instructor cueing in your ears), sending music to a side-stage monitor for instructors who want to hear the mix without their own voice, or routing music to a separate zone like a stretching area adjacent to the studio.
What outputs are available on the 3+5 LS?
Four TRS outputs total — one stereo pair at 1 Volt Left & Right, plus a Mono/Subwoofer option for sending a summed signal to a sub or a mono zone. Add the MOM output and the USB Type B output, and you have flexible routing for main speakers, subs, secondary zones, recording rigs, and live streaming all running at the same time.
Will it work with my existing wireless mic systems?
Yes. The two rear-panel Combi inputs accept both ¼" TRS jack and balanced XLR from any quality wireless receiver — Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Line 6, and others — alongside Fitness Audio's own DX6 Digital, U-Series UHF, and Aeromic-compatible systems. Balanced XLR connections from your wireless receiver's Mic Out reveal more body in the voice and are far less prone to noise and RF interference.
How do I prevent instructors from cranking volumes too high?
Two layers of protection. First, the recessed Master Volume Control on the rear panel sets a hard ceiling that front-panel knobs can't exceed. Second, the built-in Audio Slap limiter actively cuts the music –15 dB whenever your set sound level is breached. Together, this gives you compliance with workplace noise regulations, hearing protection for members, and far fewer complaints from neighbouring rooms or upstairs tenants.
Does it have evacuation mute functionality?
Yes. The EVAC Link (Music Mute Relay) is standard on the 3+5 LS and is often required by building codes for public institutions, universities, council facilities, schools, and large commercial premises. If the fire alarm triggers, music is automatically muted across the system while the instructor's microphone stays live at full volume — so they can clearly direct an orderly evacuation.
Can I rack-mount the 3+5 LS?
Yes — it's a 1 Rack Unit (1RU) design and fits cleanly into standard 19" racks. It mounts alongside your wireless receivers, AeroLink Bluetooth receivers, amplifiers, and signal processors to keep the whole rack tidy in one cabinet.
Does the 3+5 LS support Bluetooth music streaming?
There's no built-in Bluetooth, but it pairs perfectly with the AeroLink Bluetooth Music Receiver — plug AeroLink into any of the rear RCA music inputs and you can stream wirelessly from a phone, tablet, or laptop while still getting the rock-solid audio quality of a wired connection through the mixer.
How easy is it for guest instructors to plug in their own gear?
Very easy. The front panel has both a ¼" TRS mic input (Mic 2) and a ¼" TRS music input that uses the included iJax cable. A visiting instructor with their own wireless system can plug their receiver into the front mic jack, plug their phone into the front music jack, turn up the corresponding channels, and start their class without ever touching the back of the rack.
Will it sound clean at low volumes during yoga, Pilates, or cool-downs?
Yes. The 3+5 LS runs on a 24V outboard DC power supply — the quietest in any fitness mixer on the market. No buzz, no hiss, no power hum during quiet stretching, breathwork, savasana, or end-of-class cool-down moments where every little artifact gets noticed.
Can I shape mic tone independently from the music?
Yes. Each of the three mic channels has its own bass and treble (EQ) controls, fully independent from the music EQ. If one instructor's mic is muddy or feeding back, you can shape just that channel without affecting any of the other voices or the music — which is essential when you've got three different vocal tones running through the system at once.
Is it built to handle a humid, sweaty fitness environment?
Yes. Heavy-duty knobs and pots are used throughout for rust prevention, and the chassis is built for the heat, humidity, and constant operation of a working facility. The 3+5 LS has been engineered and QC'd by Fitness Audio specifically for the fitness industry — it's not a generic recording-studio mixer adapted for gyms.
Do I need an audio engineer to operate it day-to-day?
No. Once your installer commissions the system — setting master volume, sound limiter ceiling, mic trims, and EQ — daily operation is straightforward. Instructors only need to manage mic and music levels during class. The set-and-forget design philosophy means even a flagship mixer with this many channels stays simple to use, and it's easy to reset on the fly if something gets bumped.
What's included in the box?
The Aeromix 3+5 LS mixer, a 24V outboard DC power supply, and our exclusive iJax smartphone connection cable. The data sheet and full user manual are available for download on the product page. A rack mount kit is sold separately if needed.
How does the 3+5 LS compare to the Aeromix 2+2 SR?
The 2+2 SR is the industry standard for typical group fitness rooms and indoor cycling studios with one or two instructors. The 3+5 LS adds a third mic channel, two extra music inputs, a built-in sound limiter (no external Trigger required), direct USB-to-computer connectivity, and the MOM output. Choose the 3+5 LS when you run hybrid classes regularly, need to handle guest instructors with their own gear, route audio to multiple zones, or operate a large multi-purpose facility.
How does the 3+5 LS compare to the Aeromix 1+1 SR?
The 1+1 SR is the entry point — one mic, two music sources, ideal for boutique studios, solo-instructor spaces, yoga and Pilates rooms, and home setups. The 3+5 LS is the top of the range: three mics, five music sources, built-in sound limiting, direct USB streaming, and routing for multiple zones. The two products serve completely different scales of facility.
Is the 3+5 LS suitable for streaming on-demand class content for a fitness app?
Yes — it's purpose-built for it. The direct USB Type B output sends a clean digital voice-over-music mix straight into your recording or streaming software (OBS, Zoom, Teams, Riverside, etc.), and the MOM output lets you simultaneously feed a separate music monitor or zone. Facilities producing content for their member apps or YouTube channels get a huge workflow upgrade over rigging up external soundcards.
How do I figure out if the 3+5 LS is right for my facility?
Get in touch through the contact page and we'll connect you with your local Fitness Audio distribution partner. We'll help you decide between the 1+1 SR, 2+2 SR, and 3+5 LS based on your room size, number of instructors, class formats, streaming needs, and budget — and we can recommend the right mics, transmitters, receiver, and receiver to complete the system.
