FAQ
Do I need a receiver with this?
No. This kit is the headset and transmitter only. It pairs with the U-Series SDR-5616 receiver — the same receiver that comes with the full U-Series system and the full MTU8 system. If you already own either system, you already have the receiver.
Will this work with my existing U-Series receiver?
Yes. The MTU8 transmitter operates on the same UHF 16-channel frequency range as the U-Series beltpack transmitter. Set it to the same channel as your receiver and it pairs immediately.
Can I switch between this and a beltpack on the same receiver?
Yes. The U-Series receiver doesn't care which transmitter is sending the signal — beltpack or MTU8. Set both to the same channel and swap between them. You can't use both at the same time on one receiver channel, but you can alternate.
Why would I buy this instead of the full MTU8 system?
The full system includes the receiver. If your receiver is still working, you don't need another one. This kit saves you the cost of the receiver you'd be duplicating.
Is this good for adding a rotation headset?
That's one of the main reasons studios buy it. Running two MTU8/EMic sets in rotation — one drying while the other is in use — can more than double the life of both headsets. Especially in high-sweat rooms.
Do I need the Yoga Wrap with this?
If you teach in heated studios, yes. The MTU8 sits on your head — the hottest sweat zone. The Yoga Wrap adds a neoprene barrier between your skin and the transmitter electronics. For non-heated classes, it's optional.
