Choosing the right fitness microphone comes down to three things: how often you teach, what kind of classes you teach, and how much you sweat. We make three different headset mics — the Aeromic, EMic, and Cyclemic — and each one is built for a different type of instructor.
Here's how to figure out which one is the right fit without any guesswork.
The Quick Answer
| EMic | Aeromic | Cyclemic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Regular studio teaching | Heavy daily use, high sweat | Cycling and loud rooms |
| Class load | Up to 20 classes/week | 50+ classes/week | 50+ classes/week (cycling) |
| Sweat warranty | Standard warranty | 2-year sweat warranty | 2-year sweat warranty |
| Capsule | Noise-cancelling condenser | LS capsule with Carbon Collar | LS capsule with Carbon Collar |
| Frame | Lightweight headband | Reinforced PhatFrame | J-curve cycling-specific |
| Starting price | ~$175 | ~$449 | ~$445 |
EMic — Best Value for Regular Teaching
The EMic is our most popular microphone, and it's easy to see why. It's the workhorse of studio audio — reliable, clean-sounding, and compatible with just about every wireless transmitter system out there.

Who it's for:
- Instructors teaching up to about 20 classes per week
- Studios that need affordable, dependable mics for a rotating roster of instructors
- Instructors who teach a mix of formats — yoga, Pilates, group fitness, etc.
- Anyone who wants a solid fitness mic without the premium price tag
What makes it different:
The EMic uses a noise-cancelling condenser capsule that isolates your voice from room noise and music. It's lightweight, fits comfortably on a wide range of head shapes, and the headband design keeps it locked in during movement without feeling clunky.
It's built tougher than a generic presentation headset, but it doesn't have the extreme sweat protection of the Aeromic or Cyclemic. If you're teaching a moderate schedule and taking basic care of your gear — drying it between classes, cleaning the connector — the EMic will serve you well for a long time.
When to pick something else:
If you're teaching more than 3–4 sweaty classes per day, or you've noticed that mics in this price range tend to die on you within a few months, it's time to step up to the Aeromic.
Aeromic — Built for the Hardest-Working Instructors
The Aeromic AM11LS is the mic we're most known for. It's been the go-to for fitness professionals since 1997, and it's the only fitness headset we know of with a 2-year warranty against sweat damage — even at 7 classes a day, 7 days a week.

Who it's for:
- Full-time professional instructors with packed schedules
- Studios running 5+ classes per day on a single mic
- High-intensity formats: HIIT, bootcamp, dance, group fitness
- Instructors who sweat heavy and have killed other mics because of it
- Anyone who can't afford equipment failure in the middle of a class
What makes it different:
The Aeromic uses our LS (low-sensitivity) capsule, protected by double mesh and an acoustically transparent Carbon Collar. The Carbon Collar is the big innovation here — it shields the capsule from direct moisture without affecting sound quality. That means the mic handles more gain before feedback and resists the moisture clogging that kills other headsets.
The frame is our reinforced PhatFrame — one-piece steel that you mold to your head for a secure, custom fit. The cable is all-steel internally, and there are four separate layers of sweat defense at the connector.
Every single one is hand-assembled in Australia.
Why the 2-year sweat warranty matters:
Most fitness headsets come with a standard warranty that explicitly excludes moisture damage — which is the exact thing that kills them. The Aeromic's conditional 2-year warranty covers sweat damage under daily professional use. That's not just marketing. It reflects what the mic is actually engineered to handle.
When to pick something else:
If you mainly teach cycling, the Cyclemic is purpose-built for the riding position. If you teach a lighter schedule (under 20 classes/week) and want to save some money, the EMic is a smart call.
Cyclemic — Purpose-Built for Cycling Instructors
The Cyclemic CM11LS exists because cycling instructors deal with a problem nobody else has. When you're on the bike, your head is tilted forward in a fixed position. Sweat doesn't drip off — it runs straight down the mic frame and pools at the capsule. Regular fitness headsets, even good ones, fail faster in cycling rooms for exactly this reason.

Who it's for:
- Dedicated cycling and spin instructors
- Studios with indoor cycling rooms
- Instructors who teach from a fixed, forward-leaning position
- Facilities where the cycling room mic takes the most abuse
What makes it different:
The Cyclemic shares the same LS capsule and Carbon Collar tech as the Aeromic, but the frame is completely redesigned with a J-curve shape. That curve routes sweat away from the capsule and connection points, so it drips off instead of pooling where it causes damage.
It also has a protective orange sleeve at the boom arm's cable connection — the spot where moisture sneaks into cycling headsets most often.
Same 2-year conditional sweat warranty. Same hand-assembly in Australia.
When to pick something else:
If you teach a mix of class types beyond cycling, the Aeromic is more versatile. The Cyclemic's J-curve is optimized for that forward-leaning bike position and may not sit as naturally when you're standing upright and moving around a room.
Quick Decision Guide
How many classes per week do you teach?
- Under 20, moderate sweat → EMic
- 20+, any class type → Aeromic
- Any volume, mostly cycling → Cyclemic
- 5+ classes per day, heavy sweat, can't risk failure → Aeromic or Cyclemic (depending on class type)
On a budget?
The EMic gives you professional-grade audio at a lower price. If that's the priority and your schedule is moderate, it's a great pick. But if you're burning through cheaper mics every few months, the Aeromic ends up costing less over time because it lasts.
Studio owner buying for a team?
Think about your room types. Cycling rooms should get Cyclemics. General group fitness rooms do best with Aeromics on heavy schedules, or EMics for lighter-use rooms. Matching the right mic to the right room makes a real difference in how long your equipment lasts.
Compatibility
All three mics come with multiple connector options so they'll work with your existing wireless system:
- T4 (4-pin) — Fitness Audio and Shure transmitters
- T3 (3-pin) — AKG and Samson transmitters
- TRS 3.5mm — Sennheiser transmitters
- Hirose (4-pin) — Audio-Technica transmitters
- MTU8 — Fitness Audio MTU8 wireless system
