Fitness Audio's official guidance for busy schedules: if your room runs blocks of back-to-back classes, keep at least two transmitters and alternate them so each pack dries out between uses. Wear the pack in a neoprene pouchbelt, which keeps a moisture barrier between the transmitter and your body.
FAQ
How do I know which SM716 frequency group to order?
Check the silver sticker on the bottom of your U-Series receiver, or the one next to the battery inside your current transmitter. Order the SM716 in that same group. Transmitters and receivers in different groups will not connect. If you can't find or read the sticker, contact us and we'll identify your group.
Will the SM716 work with my receiver?
It pairs with Fitness Audio U-Series receivers, including the SDR-5616, when both are in the same frequency group. It will not work with the DX6 digital range, the older D-Series, or other brands' receivers.
What's the difference between the SM716 and the MTU8 transmitter?
Both work with U-Series receivers. The SM716 is a beltpack worn at the waist or arm with a cable to the headset; the MTU8 is a mini transmitter that mounts directly on the headset frame with no beltpack at all. The SM716 uses a 9V battery; the MTU8 runs on a single AAA. Studios often run both on the same receivers.
How sweat-resistant is the SM716?
This transmitter exists because ordinary wireless packs die in fitness rooms. The case has no hinges, flaps, or external antenna wire for sweat to attack, the circuit board is coated in corrosion-inhibiting lacquer, and the connector and battery contacts ship pre-treated with eGloop electrical grease. For heavy schedules, Fitness Audio recommends rotating two packs so each dries between classes.
What battery does it use and how do I turn it on?
A standard 9V battery, and a single on/off switch — that's the whole interface. Tone-coded transmission means no pop over the speakers at power-on, so there's no mute button to fumble with.
Why does my headset click into this transmitter instead of screwing on?
The SM716 uses a locking T4 mini-XLR: push in to connect, press the release button to disconnect. The single-action keyway keeps the mic connected even when the cable gets torqued sideways during floor exercises, which is where twist-on connectors fail.
Do I need a special headset mic for it?
You need an Aeromic, Cyclemic, or E-Mic terminated with the T4 (TA4F-style) connector for Fitness Audio/Shure-type packs. If your headset has a different termination, it won't connect — check your connector or contact us before ordering.
